The Sutherlin Project
A Model for Recycling Food Scraps and Improving the Soil
Timber Valley SKP Park and Wailani Shave Ice and Island Grindz share their stories and the benefits of participating in the Sutherlin Project in the video below. This USDA-funded pilot program diverts food scraps from the landfill in order to create nutrient-rich compost and worm castings, invaluable for improving the region's soil. Everyone is excited to be involved in a sustainability project that benefits the local community while also supporting local veterans.
